Bikepacking bags
Bikepacking usually distributes luggage around the bike using frame, saddle and handlebar bags, often without traditional panniers. It suits gravel roads and trails as well as multi-day trips on the road.
Three places to carry your gear
Behind the saddle, for light and bulky items such as clothing or a sleeping bag.
Inside the frame triangle or on the top tube, keeping heavier items and snacks low and within reach.
At the front of the bike, for sleeping gear, layers, water or small items you need on the move.
How to choose
- Your bike: measure the frame triangle and the space between saddle and rear tyre, and check saddle-bag clearance and compatibility carefully when using a dropper post.
- Your handlebar: its width, shape, cables and lights decide which front bags fit.
- Your trip: a day ride, a weekend or a long tour call for different volumes; check the capacity and waterproofing stated by the manufacturer.
Compared with panniers on a rack, bikepacking bags spread the load in several bags around the frame, while panniers carry it on the sides of a rack; many riders combine both. Our bikepacking bags guide explains each bag in detail, and our team in Meppel can check the fit on your bike.
