Ortlieb O-Strap Rack 900 mm — the strap that holds a dry bag to a bare platform

A rack-top dry bag is only as secure as what holds it down, and what holds it down usually goes missing first. The O-Strap Rack is the official replacement: a TPU strap fitted with clamping hooks at each end, made to grip the side tubes of a rack and stay gripped over cobbles.

It is also worth buying before you lose one. Two straps hold a Dry-Pack; a third lets you carry something on top of it, or secure a second bag entirely.

What it is for

Ortlieb designed it as the mounting strap for the Dry-Pack family, and as a general-purpose tie-down for smaller items on a rack platform. The clamping hooks do the work the plain O-Strap 20 cannot: they hook onto the rack tube itself rather than passing around the load.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the exact strap supplied with my Dry-Pack?
It is the official O-Strap Rack replacement strap for the Dry-Pack, but the length may differ from the one in the box: Ortlieb's own figures for the supplied strap vary between sources, while this one is 900 mm. If your original is still intact, measure it before ordering — and if you are not sure, ask us and we will check against stock in Meppel.

How many do I need?
A Dry-Pack uses two. Buy one if you have lost a strap, two if you are starting from nothing, three if you want to stack a second item on top.

What is the difference with the O-Strap 20?
The clamping hooks. The O-Strap 20 is a plain strap with a double pin buckle that loops around a load; the O-Strap Rack hooks onto the rack tubes directly. Different jobs.

Will it fit my rack?
The clamping hooks are made for rack side tubes up to 10 mm, which covers platform racks including the Ortlieb Quick Rack family.

Will TPU survive a winter?
Yes. It does not absorb water, does not stiffen in the cold and does not fray. Road salt wipes off.
