Ortlieb O-Strap 20 — the strap that outlives the bungee cord

Every rider owns a drawer of failed fastenings: perished elastics, cam buckles that slip under load, offcuts of webbing with no keeper. The O-Strap is the answer to all three. Cut from TPU rather than woven webbing, it does not absorb water, does not freeze stiff, does not fray, and wipes clean after a winter of road salt.

The double pin buckle is the detail that matters. Two pins through the holes mean the strap cannot creep under vibration the way a cam buckle does, and you can set the tension by feel rather than by pulling until something complains.

Four lengths

• K1491 — 380 mm, for small items and tight bundles
• K1492 — 570 mm, the everyday length for a jacket or a dry bag
• K1493 — 760 mm, for bulkier loads on a rack platform
• K1494 — 950 mm, for lashing across a full rack or through a frame

Integrated webbing keepers hold the surplus length flat, so nothing flaps into a wheel or a chainring.

Extending the system

The O-Strap can be adapted with the separately available O-Strap spare part set, which converts it for mounting onto 10 mm rack tubes. If you specifically want straps with clamping hooks ready to go, look at the O-Strap Rack 900 mm instead — that is the version designed to grip rack tubes directly.

Frequently asked questions

Which length do I need?
Measure around the load and add roughly 100 mm. If you are between two sizes, take the longer one — the keepers manage the surplus, whereas a strap that is 20 mm short is simply useless.

Is this the strap supplied with the Dry-Pack?
No. The Dry-Pack ships with O-Strap Rack straps, which have clamping hooks for the rack tubes. If you have lost one of those, order the O-Strap Rack rather than this one.

Are they sold in pairs?
Individually. Order two if you are strapping something down at both ends.

Will TPU last?
Better than elastic and better than nylon webbing in wet conditions. It does not soak up water or grit, and it stays flexible in the cold. Wipe it down occasionally and it will outlast the bag it is holding.
