Omnium Day Ripper: the Danish commuter that takes the long way home
Designed by the cargo bike specialists at Omnium, the Day Ripper brings the same engineering honesty to everyday city riding. A double-butted chromoly steel frame, generous 38 mm tyres and a slightly upright commuter cockpit make it as composed on cobblestones as it is on the gravel path you choose when the day allows.
It is a bike built around real routines: the morning commute, the market run, a child seat on the back, an unplanned detour to the coast. Mudguards and a kickstand come fitted, rack mounts sit front and rear, and the SRAM drivetrain and hydraulic brakes are components you would normally expect on far more specialised machines.
A steel frame with character
Double-butted chromoly steel is thinner where it can be and thicker where it needs to be. The result is a frame that filters out road vibration naturally, lasts for years and can be repaired rather than replaced. Paired with Arisun XLR 700 × 38 mm tyres, it delivers a smooth, planted ride on broken tarmac, paving and light gravel.

The Day Ripper is offered in two diamond-frame sizes and a step-through version. With a standover height of just 716 mm, the step-through is easy to mount in everyday clothes or with a loaded bike, while sharing exactly the same components.

Frequently asked questions
Which size should I choose?
As a guide: Step Through for riders of approx. 160–175 cm, S/M for 170–180 cm and L/XL for 180–195 cm. If you fall between two sizes, the smaller frame gives a more upright, relaxed position and the larger one a more stretched, sporty feel. Can I ride the Day Ripper on gravel?
Yes. The 38 mm tyres and steel frame are comfortable on unpaved paths, towpaths and light gravel. It is not a mountain bike, and the frame accepts tyres up to 38 mm wide, so the fitted tyres are already the widest option.
Can I fit racks, panniers and a child seat?
Yes. The frame has mounts for front and rear racks, and a rear rack allows panniers or a rear child seat. Keep in mind the recommended maximum load of 100 kg, which includes the rider, luggage and any passenger.
How much maintenance does it need?
Very little. The 1×11 drivetrain has no front derailleur, the hydraulic brakes adjust automatically as the pads wear, and standard square taper, BSA and quick-release interfaces make parts easy to source. A steel frame can also be repaired by a frame builder if ever needed. Our workshop in Meppel services the Day Ripper.
Is the step-through version a lighter-duty bike?
No. The Step Through uses the same chromoly steel, the same components and the same 100 kg maximum load as the S/M and L/XL frames. It is simply easier to get on and off, and suits any rider who prefers a low standover.
