L'Hirondelle by BeastyBike - Urban bike shop in Meppel

L’Hirondelle Bikeshop – urban bikes with character
L’Hirondelle is not just an ordinary bicycle shop, but a place to discover. An urban bike shop for those looking for something a little different: unique brands, well-thought-out technology and bikes with a story. Our shop is an experience in itself – a bit like a sweet shop, a bit like a showroom, but above all a place that makes you want to ride.
We offer a carefully selected range of niche bikes: from stylish city bikes and electric commuters to cargo bikes and premium designs. Brands such as Urban Arrow, Lovens, Watt, Tenways, Roetz, Achielle, WOOM and Schindelhauer are not lined up in rows here, but in the spotlight. To look at, touch and, above all, try out.
Right in the centre of Meppel, in the car-free Kruisstraat, you can test ride right outside the door. Parking is nearby, the coffee around the corner, and we take the time to give you honest advice.
Come by, be surprised, and experience for yourself what makes L'Hirondelle different. Come on over!

LONGREAD :) > Webshop and shop as one
We are not a webshop with a showroom, nor are we a shop with a website “on the side”. It's one world. Explore online, experience in-store – or visit first and decide later at home. That interaction is our strength: 1 plus 1 equals 3! With us, you can feel what you saw online and find online what you discovered here.
In the shop, you will find a large part of the webshop's range, supplemented with bicycles that you simply have to see in real life. The different floors have a relaxed, slightly vintage cycling atmosphere with refurbished classics, retro bicycles and special models. Museum cabinets and display cases contain leather saddles, hand-painted bells, bicycle caps and other small bicycle temptations.
At the back of the shop, you can look into the open workshop. Every day, city bikes, e-bikes and cargo bikes are tinkered with there, as well as fun projects and refurbishments. Visitors are welcome to watch, ask questions and see how a bicycle really comes to life.
Together with Glorie Bike Lab
With Jan Glorie's Glorie Bike Lab, we offer professional bike fitting. Jan “takes your measurements” on his bike fitting machine so that you can make an informed choice for your road bike or gravel bike. Even if you experience pain while cycling, we can often help with an ergonomic saddle, a suitable handlebar or precise adjustment of the cleats.
'“De Mug”' Skateshop Meppel in the house!
On the first floor, you will find something special: Puk's skate shop “De Mug”, who also works in our shop. New, cool and quirky – exactly what Meppel was missing. Decks, trucks, wheels, clothing and a healthy dose of skate culture give the building an extra urban layer. Cycling and skating under one roof: two worlds that naturally come together here.
In the heart of historic Meppel
L'Hirondelle Bike Shop is located on Kruisstraat, in the heart of Meppel's picturesque centre. The shop is just around the corner from the lively shopping street and close to the three restaurant squares. There is ample parking, test rides can be taken on the car-free Kruisstraat, and loading and unloading can be done right outside the door.
The historic building was constructed at the end of the 16th century as the Schultehuis. In 2012, it burned to the ground, but with the help of the residents of Meppel, it rose from the ashes. “The Phoenix” has been beautifully renovated and the facades have regained their monumental value. At the top of the stepped gable is the coat of arms of the first Schulte: a lion watching over the swallow.
